SUPPORT OUR CHURCH AND OUR MISSION

 

Our Church was established as a result of goodwill, generosity and contributions of seventeen women and the zeal of one priest. Since that day when our founders thought of building a Church, they committed themselves to share whatever they had for the future good of this community. By imitating the example of the Apostles [Acts 3:42-47, 4:32-37], our founders prayed together in every meeting. They put their dimes together and even knocked on the doors of their neighbors to ask for their support so as to establish a Church and a school.

 

As God is always good, they succeeded in erecting a building which was used simultaneously as a Church and a school, and named it Holy Name of Mary. And with the support of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, this Church flourished to be the heart and the flower of spiritual growth, human cooperation and academic achievement of people in Morgan Park.

 

Due to that, today we praise God for blessing HNM to be His home and a place of worship for His people. We also praise Him for making HNM a place where people encounter the love of God and the spirit of togetherness among the members of the community. Indeed we thank and glorify God for giving us all these blessings. 

 

While we continue to exalt God, we also want to thank Him for giving us this Church, the people, and the mission to carry out to others day after day. We want to thank Him for being on our side as we strive to plant the seed of faith and to cultivate hope and love in all. For If God wasn’t with us, we couldn’t reach this far, because the enemy the devil, would have swallowed us alive and the floods could have swept us away [Ps. 124:1-5], before reaching where we stand today.

 

Also we want to thank Him for giving us the mission to feed the hungry and to give water to the thirsty. We thank the Lord for opening our hearts and enabling us to serve hot meals once a week to those in need in our OSP Diner. We rejoice with this mission which God has entrusted to this Church, although we recognize that this mission is impossible without the hand of God and your support.

 

So we humbly ask you to support our Church and our mission. For your support is what can make HNM able to carry on the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation. Undoubtedly your support will make a difference to our Church and to our community as it is part of your spreading the faith to others.
